It’s Official – The Grand Opening Commenced
The beautiful newly renovated Leslie N. Shaw Park is officially opened and waiting to welcome the community. The grand opening was held on a beautiful sunny Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:45 AM. To start the celebration, Mr. Douchette, from the neighborhood, led his New Orleans group with a parade and music – Mardi Gras fashion. The Dorsey Drum line and Drill Team kept the party going. The West Adams Girl Scout troop led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the youth chorus of Holy Name of Jesus Christ Catholic Church singing Lift Every Voice and Sing. Our own pastor, Rev. Carlton A. Rhoden, blessed the park with a prayer. Officials from the City, Council President Herb Wesson, and Leslie N. Shaw’s daughter, surrounded by her family, spoke encouragingly about the future of the park. Council President Herb Wesson cut the ribbon and declared the Leslie N. Shaw Park officially opened for enjoyment. Yeah!
